During this half a century, the number of the member firms has increased to 1249 from 46 firms at the beginning, and the scale of the organization was gradually enlarged with the development of Japanese industries along with their globalization. JSIA has 10 (ten) district Scientific Instrument Associations throughout Japan now.
Especially in recent years, JSIA has been rapidly growing in accordance with the national policy to stand as a science and technology nation. I am proud to say that our activities have greatly contributed not only to the development of science and technology but also to the economic development of Japan.
It is said that creation of an industrial society, supported by high technology, is a national issue. For that reason, needs for new development of science and technology are expanding and importance of the scientific instrument, should be further enhanced.
Simultaneously, involvement of scientific instruments will become greater in the areas such as global environment issues, health - medical - and biotechnology.
On the other hand, as our activities have been greatly diversifying to cope with a wave of globalization, with rapid progress of telecommunication technology, I would like to enhance activities of JSIA by gathering intelligence of all its members to overcome the harsh age.
