JSIA is a national organization which consists of district Scientific Instrument Associations established in 10 district of Japan. The number of member firms, which compose these district Associations, has reached 1249 as of October, 2002. Approximately 20% of those members are engaged in the manufacturing business, 20% of them are in the selling and manufacturing business, and 60% of them fall in the selling business category. As you can see from the above figures, coverage of both manufacturing and selling business makes a distinct characteristic of the cooperative organization.
JSIA supports and coordinates activities of district Associations, and its primary purpose is to enhance development of its member firms and contribute to development of science and technology. It also aims at upgrading social status of the industry and implementing national policies concerning scientific instruments. |
